Tony Roper’s Love for Racing Will never Leave the Hearts of Many
Tony Roper was an American NASCAR driver and son of Dean Roper and Shirley Medley. He grew up with in a racing family and with a lot of access to racing drivers and events, and began racing at 22. He started by racing in asphalt and dirt tracks before progressing to real race tracks and events. He died after a head on collision with a concrete wall at the Texas Motor Speedway.
It was almost natural that Roper would enter and compete in car racing. From a tender age, his father was involved heavily in motor racing and naturally, Tony followed suit. It was this love for racing that took him to dirt and asphalt tracks, where he drove IMCA modifiers and late models. It is difficult to find specific information in any dissertation order written in an MLA research paper format as to what exactly his father was involved in. Tony finished second at the American Speed Association Rookie of the Year Award. He began racing in the Craftsman Truck Series in 1995 and the Busch Series in 1999.
It was in the former event that Tony met his untimely death in Texas on October 13, 2000. In an attempt to overtake Steve Grissom, a rival driver, a truck veered up the racetrack, forcing him to avoid a collision. Unfortunately, he was unfortunate to touch Grissom’s front bumper, forcing him into a wild spin. His truck veered wildly to the right and slammed into the concrete wall . He died shortly afterwards.
